Things I’ve learned from Bim (with gratitude on Fathers’ Day)

  • Don’t speak unless you have something to say. Then make it count.
  • If at all possible, do it yourself.
  • The right tool makes all the difference.
  • If you’re fixing something, and you drop a screw, pick it up. If you drop it again, pick it up again. If you drop it again, pick it up again…
  • Treat the speed limit as a suggestion. But if you get pulled over, take it like a man.
  • Change your oil every 3,000 miles.
  • Simmer down, fer crissake!
  • If there’s something you love to do above all else, sticking with it can sustain you for a lifetime.
  • Never apologize for being who you are.
  • You don’t have to be related by blood to be someone’s dad.
